Pre Washing Reusable Nappies

All new reusable nappies need to be washed before you use them to increase their absorbency. In the same way a towel fluffs up and increases absorbency after a few washes so do your new nappies.

Before pre-washing if your baby wees in the nappy the liquid may run off rather than absorb into the material.

Natural Fibres such as bamboo, terry and cotton reach maximum absorbency after they have been washed 3-4 times (some people soak overnight). You don't need to dry the nappies out in between washes just restart the wash cycle.

Man Made Fibres such as micro-fibre or fleece only need to be washed once or twice before you use them.

If you have a deep coloured nappies wash them separately once or twice to make sure that there are no colour runs.

Waterproof wraps should be washed once to make sure they are completely cleaned before first use too.
